I'm the Founder of Charlotte Werner Nutrition PLLC and a Registered Dietitian. I have my Master's Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University. I am a passionate runner, enjoying distances ranging from half marathons through the 100-mile ultra (and beyond!). I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinical, food, and sports nutrition.
In these roles, I have learned the importance of teamwork, empathy, and patience in achieving goals. These roles aided in my development of many skills. I was part of a multidisciplinary team clearing patients for surgery, worked with athletes to understand their body's specific needs, consulted on nutrient/health claims and US labeling, developed content and nutrition strategy, as well as educated patients, customer service, marketing, and consumers in the realm of nutrition.
I have worked with athletes of all abilities, from those getting started on their running journey all the way through professional/elite. I know what it's like to get started and I also know what it's like to be in the 29th hour of running.
What brings me the most joy is helping runners and endurance athletes to reach their goals in sports through nutrition.
I have spoken at a variety of events on nutrition including, most recently, The New York City Marathon Expo at the Javits Center on the Citizen's Stage (2023).
I'm excited to work together to ensure you have everything you need in your nutrition tank to feel your best while training and racing!
I've been running for over 15 years. It all started in the beginning of high school when I began with running a few blocks out and then back . I still remember the feeling. The desire to push myself just a little further each day.
I grew up with a dad who had running intertwined into his life. He would run to work, run for fun, and run for his mental health. He is now a retired FDNY Captain and one of my biggest supports.
I joined cross country in high school but cannot say it was something I saw myself doing long term. I started running half marathons later in high school and in college, I ran for fun, pushing myself further and further while simultaneously learning more about nutrition and how important it is.
In college, I also continuously applied for the New York City Marathon. A dream of mine. I was rejected from the general lottery system many times and after a few years of applying (and not getting in!), I decided to start running ultramarathons, sort of in spite of the rejection ... because why not run further?
I told myself I would work hard to time qualify as a means for entry to the marathon and in 2022, my dream came true. I time-qualified for the New York City Marathon via the United Half and this year (2023) I ran the race of my life at the marathon. I also time qualified in 2023 via the United Half for next year (2024), beating my PR by over a minute. Nutrition was a key part of my journey as a runner and without the many moments of tinkering with what I consume, how much, and when, I would not be where I am today in my own running career, making continuous improvements to this day.
Nutrition helped me to reach every goal I have set, but more importantly it's helped me achieve those goals while feeling my best, staying strong, and recovering well. I cannot wait to help each and every one of you achieve your goals through nutrition, too.
